ALKALINE DEGREASING: Describes the process of removing oil or grease from a substance before painting using an alkaline solution.
ABRASIVE BLAST CLEANING: Describes a method used to prepare steel for painting in which abrasive particles are projected under pressure through a nozzle. Effective in removing rust and mill scale, the process typically leaves an anchor pattern on the substrate making for first-class paint adhesion.
BEAD: Describes the small ball-like particle used in bead blasting bodywork.
BEAD BLASTER: Describes the cleaning device used to remove paint and contaminants from body metal
BEAD BLASTING: Describes the cleaning process in which minute glass beads are forced by air pressure against a car body or body panels, removing. This paint and contaminants even from objects which are awkwardly shaped.
CHEMICAL BRIGHTENING: Describes the improvement of the smoothness of the surface of a metal by immersing it into a solution designed to remove any roughness.
COLD GALVANIZING: Describes the application of zinc to prevent rusting, applied by paint with lots of zinc or by electroplating with zinc.
CORROSION INHIBITOR: Describes a substance that reduces or prevents corrosion in oils, anti-freeze and paints.
CORROSION PREVENTION: Describes the act of minimising corrosion by coating the object with a protective oxide or paint.
DEBURRING: Describes the procedure of removing burrs from a metal surface.
GRIT BLASTING: Describes a sandblasting process where grit is used to clean the metal surfaces using various grades of grit for coarse or more refined blasting on thin steel.
PHOSPHATE TREATMENT: Describes the treatment of metals through a phosphating solution that generates a phosphate conversion coating on the surface
PHOSPHATING SOLUTION: Describes a phosphoric acid solution, enriched with zinc, used for cleaning and rust prevention during the bodywork renovation process.
PICKLING: Describes the act of removing mill scale from the surface of a metal by immersion, using an alkaline solution.
SHOT BLASTING: Describes the blasting process in which rounded particles are impacted onto a surface to remove paint and rust.
SPIN GALVANIZING: Describes a hot-dip galvanising process suited for smaller objects immersed in a perforated basket into molten zinc. Once the zinc coating forms, it is centrifuged at high speed, with the spinning action throwing off the surplus zinc, ensuring a clean profile.
