QUARTZ-IODINE LAMP: Describes the compact high-intensity light source, consisting of a bulb with a tungsten filament, filled with an inert gas containing iodine (sometimes bromine) vapor, used for car-lamps.
REAR LAMP CLUSTER: Describes the group of lights that sit at the rear corners of a vehicle, usually comprising tail lamps, brake lamps, back-up lamp, rear fog lamp, reflector as well as a signal light.
REAR LIGHT SURROUND: Describes a separate panel spot-welded at the juncture between the trailing edge of the rear fender and the rear valance to provide a mounting base for the rear lights.
REAR NUMBER PLATE LAMP: Describes a white light that illuminates the rear number plate.
RECTANGULAR HEADLIGHT: Describes a modern shape of headlight that has largely replaced the traditional circular headlight.
REFLECTOR: Describes the part of a headlight that receives light from the bulb and reflects it back through the lens.
SEALED BEAM HEADLIGHT: Describes a headlight where the lens, reflector and filament are fused together in a single unit.
SIDE FLASHER: Describes a small signal light usually amber or red located on the side of a vehicle close to the front and rear fenders.
SIDELIGHT: Describes the low-intensity white lamp situated ahead of the front wheels on the side of the fender, which gives off a steady glow when the signal lights are switched on.
SIDE MARKER LAMP: Describes a low-intensity lamp that is mounted on the side of a vehicle to allow it to be seen from the side.
SIGNAL LIGHT: Describes the small blinking lights found on either side of the front and either side of the vehicle’s rear that warn other drivers of a change in direction when turning a corner or changing lanes.
